WOOD WOOL CEMENT BOARDS FOR SOUND AND THERMAL INSULATION

Fibroplit, Ltd produces wood wool cement boards made of wood wool impregnated with liquid glass.

For heat and sound insulation, low-density WWCBs are used — from 250 to 400 kg/m3. The board measuring 2400 x 600 x 50 mm at this density weighs from 18 to 32 kg. Relatively low weight allows the use of boards in the construction of roofing, installation of partitions, in the construction of counter ceilings.

The flammability class of the material — G2. That means that the board is difficult to set fire. This property of the material is advantageous in the construction of the roof, because on the WWCBs it is possible to melt roll materials with the help of a burner.

Even if the board lights up, the fire will damage no more than 20% of the material.

WHAT WEATHERIZATION IS BETTER — OSB OR WOOD WOOL CEMENT BOARDS

The only advantage of OSB over the WWCBs is lower water absorption. But it is achieved by using formaldehyde adhesives harmful to humans, which make OSB flammable material.

WWCBs have good performance on thermal insulation: at equal dimensions, the board with a density of 450 kg/m3 passes twice as much heat as OSB with a density of 660 kg/m3.

NOISE INSULATION BY GYPSUM PLASTERBOARD (GYPSUM BOARD)
OR WOOD WOOL CEMENT BOARDS — COMPARISON

Many are accustomed to using gypsum board and rockwool for noise insulation. Wood wool cement boards are relatively new material on the market.

The main indicator of insulation quality is the sound absorption coefficient. It takes a value from 0 to 1. The higher is the better. This coefficient shall be measured at different frequencies. Compare the sound absorption coefficients of wood wool cement boards and gypsum board with a thickness of 12.5 mm in the table:

WOOD WOOL CEMENT BOARDS AREAS OF APPLICATION

Wood wool cement boards are used in systems of sound and thermal insulation of walls, floorings, ceiling and roofing. The material can be combined in sandwich panels with special acoustic layers. In addition, fire safety standards in many establishments require the use of non-combustible materials, which include a board.

Boards are often used:

· For decoration of premises in medical institutions — there are no toxic substances in the material, it does not dust, so it does not affect the sterility of offices and hospital wards.

· For sound insulation in cinemas and recording studios.

· For noise absorbing screens on the road — boards withstand wind loads and precipitation.

· In the construction of private houses and apartment buildings.

· When installing a sound insulation system inside the residential premises.

On the construction market, like any other, new products appear, surpassing the quality characteristics of the usual materials. Today they are strong and lightweight WWCBs that absorb sounds of different frequencies and are resistant to external influences.
